Lacey Micallef

Ms. Micallef was born in Canada and spent her formative years in rural Missouri. Lacey left her job as a preschool teacher to move to NYC and pursue a career in art in 2011. Since then she’s done work for AMC, MTV, Uniqlo, Tim and Eric, and more. She ran a successful online store for her art and goods for three years before closing up to refocus and launch what would become Big Bud Press. She currently lives in Florida with her husband and two dogs.Inspired by the digitized look of early video games as well as the pop art evolution of recent decades,lacey Micallef’s GIF art As a professional artist and lifelong collector and trader of pins, Big Bud Press is the natural combination her two favorite pastimes. Each piece is designed by her and inspired by the people, places, and things she loves. Big Bud pins are meant to elevate your own unique personal style and aesthetic. Paolo, aka Patakk is a 22-year-old designer currently based in Zagreb, Croatia. He’s created a series of animated GIFs that we’ve quite frankly fallen in love with! With typography, triangles, faces and fonts to browse through, there’s plenty of inspiration to be had.Paolo creates the GIFs using a processing, Cinema 4D and After Effects. The latter comes in handy when Paolo wants to edit animations that were made with another programme; like changing the colour or cloning an image.

Final Evaluation

At the start of this course i didn’t really like the idea as i thought it would be boring but iv’e actually enjoyed it. It was something new to me as i didn’t know that there was such thing called GIF art and at the end of the project thats the reason why i enjoyed it, i like to learn new things. In this project we had to be very creative in order to design our block gifs. I was inspired by many artists such as Lacey Micallef as she uses an object and changes the colour to her own and makes a pattern out of it. We did a workshop and tried Lacey’s gif art and i had a lot of fun, we used a lego block and in order to do a video we had to use photoshop. One struggle i went through was taking pictures of the same angle, position of my blocks.Also to then put it all into a video as i wasn’t sure how to do it, luckily i found an app which i could download on my phone. I also had to create a youtube account as that was the only way i could put it in my blog.From this project i’ve learnt how to make my own blog and publish it.
